Deep-fried Oreos Recipe

Printable Deep-fried Oreo recipe (pdf)

Deep-fried Oreos are a decadent and indulgent treat, often found at fairs and carnivals. The outer batter is a light and fluffy coating, similar to a funnel cake. As you bite into a deep-fried Oreo, you first experience the warm, soft exterior, followed by the melted, gooey chocolate and cream filling of the Oreo cookie itself. The heat from the frying process transforms the cookie into a soft, almost cake-like texture, while the cream filling becomes warm and melty. The combination of the soft, slightly sweet batter with the rich, warm chocolate and creamy center creates a heavenly taste experience that's both comforting and indulgent.

Dry ingredients:
1 package Oreo cookies
1 Cup flour
2 TBSP sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt

Wet ingredients:
1/3 Cup milk
1 large egg
½ tsp vanilla extract

Mix dry ingredients together in a bowl with a whisk. Stir in milk, egg and vanilla until smooth. If your egg is small your batter may be too stiff. Add more milk if required to achieve a pourable consistency.

Using a pair of long tongs dip an Oreo cookie into the batter and coat thoroughly. Remove the cookie from the batter and allow to drain briefly before carefully placing into hot oil. After inserting the first cookie flip it over with a clean pair of tongs. This will prevent the cookies from sticking together. Use one pair of tongs to work with cookies in the batter; and a clean pair for rotating and removing cookies from the oil.

Deep fry two at a time at 360° F for 2 minutes, rotating occasionally. Remove and place on cooling rack or paper towel-lined plate.

Dust with powdered sugar.

Yields about 12 deep-fried Oreo cookies.
